Warden attempts to demolish her old home

Christine Thwaite has worked at Sycamore Close Sheltered housing complex in Bainbridge since it was built in 1980. Dianne Whyte was the first warden to work at Sycamore and Christine Thwaite was the first relief.

The second floor flat in front of the machine was her old home

In 1985 Dianne went to work at High Hall Residential Home and Nora Smith became the new warden.

In 1996 Nora Left and Christine became the new warden and has carried on in that position for the last 10 years until the building closed in January 2006.

There were originally 23 flats including the wardens' flat and 3 bungalows on the site.

Because of Christine's long and happy connections with Sycamore Close she was invited to a photo shoot and to have a go at giving a helping hand to the demolition of her old home.

Christine said the day was tinged with a little sadness as the end of the remaining buildings were to come down and Sycamore Close would be no more.

Posing for the official photograph

"Flipping Heck! every time I come to eat here something else has changed"

"Right lads Here goes"

"I hope they are well insured"
