Luncheon At The Crown Askrigg

Lunch at the Crown Askrigg with a visit to the Museum at Hawes.

It was a rush to organise but it went off with a bang.
The weather was superb we couldn't have chosen a better day.
First we called at The Crown at Askrigg for lunch
which was as always faultless.

There were some astonishingly healthy appetites.

Spenc got a real treat from Owen. He was looking at the menu and said he would have the steak pie but what he really missed was a Sunday lunch. On hearing this, Owen said there was a bit of roast lamb left from their lunch, just enough for one. Spenc was offered the portion and he said afterwards that it was the best lunch he had ever tasted.

As we were loading up the bus Judith Bromley (local artist) came across for a chat and to ask if we needed any help.

She suggested a visit to their Art Gallery, and that we would be made very welcome. I said it sounded like a good idea although our afternoon was already planned, the next time we go to Owens for lunch we would arrange a visit.

After lunch we set off for Hawes.

The fields and the hills looks so geen in the sun and the trees were just showing hints of Autumn.

We arrived at the Dales Countryside Museum, and several people went in to have a look around and view the Marie Hartley Exhibition (celebrating 100 years of her life and work).

Others preferred just to sit on the benches enjoying the late Autumn sunshine and watch the world go by.

As a suprise special treat Lucy was brought to the museum for everyone to wish her a happy 2nd birthday.
